Message from the Supervisor…….
"A primary concern to all of us is the safety of our communities.
In an effort to reduce crime, I've been:
- Increasing public awareness of domestic violence prevention by hosting conferences. For more information on this, refer to the "Domestic Violence" section.
- Seeking the best solution possible for residents surrounding Musick Jail.
- Focusing on the tragic crime of elder abuse. This year, I held a conference to provide seniors with information to prevent them from becoming victims. For more information, go to the "Seniors" section(accessible from our homepage).
- Working as a CAL-ID Ran Board member on the countywide Automated Fingerprint Identification System (CAL-ID) which is vital to maintaining a high level of law enforcement service, enabling officers to efficiently and accurately identify crime suspects.
- Assisting cities and unincorporated areas with contracts for Sheriff Deputies to provide law enforcement services and representing the County on the Fire Authority Board.
- Pursuing a viable and reasonable location for a new South County Justice Center.
- Participating on the County's Emergency Management Council
Since the devastating events of September 11th, we are facing new challenges. Considerable concerns regarding acts of terrorism affecting the safety of all Americans are on our minds. Go to the "Terrorism" section to learn more about what we need to do to protect ourselves."
