Adult Protective Services
Adult
Protective Services receives and investigates reports of abuse of elders and dependent
adults. Abuse may include neglect (including self neglect), physical abuse, sexual abuse,
financial abuse, and emotional or verbal abuse. Adult Protective Services can provide
crisis intervention; information and consultation; and referral to supportive services

In-Home Supportive
Services
The In-Home Supportive Services Program provides for in-home care for eligible low-income aged (65 years of age or older), blind, or disabled individuals who would be unable to remain safely in their own homes without assistance. A social worker makes an assessment of needs based on medical condition, living arrangement, and the types of other services available. The individual then hires and supervises his/her own provider. The provider is paid minimum wage directly by the State of California for the hours of authorized services provided.
