This office is responsible for planning effective use of Federal & State funds to provide services to Older Americans, generally defined as persons 60 or older. The office studies needs of County senior citizens, develops plans to meet those needs for consideration by the Board of Supervisors, and then administers contracts to allocate Older Americans Act funds to non-profit and government entities to provide those services.

A partial list of services includes meals, transportation, legal aid, in-home supportive services, counseling, and a federally funded employment program for community service jobs for low income senior citizens. The office also operates the Senior Information and Assistance Services, the Senior Shared Housing Coordination Program, Multi-Purpose Senior Services Program (MSSP) and Linkages case-management programs and the Health Promotion/Disease Prevention Program.
