Welcome to Orange County In-Home Support Services Public Authority
Man pushing woman in wheelchair The County of Orange Board of Supervisors with the establishment of an Ordinance on February 5, 2002, created the Orange County In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) Public Authority. The Orange County IHSS Public Authority's general functions are to establish a Registry of IHSS Providers; conduct Provider recruitment and screening; offer free training and support to Consumers and Providers; and information and referral.
The Orange County IHSS Public Authority Registry is responsible for all recruitment efforts, interviews, pre-screening and keeps an up-to-date database of available Providers. As Orange County IHSS Consumers need home care Providers, the Orange County IHSS Public Authority Registry searches through its database to match a Provider's service area and home care skills with a Consumer's needs. A list of available Providers is then sent to the Consumer and it is the Consumer's responsibility to select and hire an appropriate Provider for his/her particular home care needs.

Training for both Consumers and Providers is also a critical component of the duties of the Orange County IHSS Public Authority. Please refer to our Training page for more information.

Our mission: Working hand in hand with the community to serve IHSS Consumers so they may remain safe and independent in their own home.
