Public Invited To Assess Proposed
Electronic Voting System
September 18, 2002
Santa Ana, September 18, 2002 - Starting
next week, county residents will be able to view and give
feedback on selecting a new electronic voting system to
be in place for the 2004 election cycle. Registrar of
Voters Rosalyn Lever today released a schedule of nine
public meetings, beginning September 23, for the public
to help assess the finalists in the selection process.
Santa Ana - Orange County will definitely
remember. A countywide observance will be held at noon
on September 11 in the Civic Center Plaza at Santa Ana
Boulevard and Broadway Streets in Santa Ana. Participants
will include the Board of Supervisors, Orange County Sheriff,
OC Fire Authority, OC Human Relations Commission, the
Veterans Service, and Living Room Dialogue participants
who will combine their efforts to commemorate those who
died in the 2001 September 11 terrorist attack in New
York City, the Pentagon and the Pennsylvania countryside.
The public is invited to attend Orange County Remembers.
Sturla Recommended to Head New Child
Support Services Department

(Santa Ana) - On Tuesday, the Board
of Supervisors will hear a recommendation to appoint Jan
C. Sturla as head of the new department of Child Support
Services (CSS). Sturla, a Deputy District Attorney for
25 years, has served as Director of the District Attorney's
Family Support Division (FSD) since 1999.
Public Workshop on FY 2002- 03 County

June 6 in the Planning Commission room located on the
first floor of the Hall of Administration, 10 Civic Center
Plaza in Santa Ana.
County Salutes Volunteers for Services
Valued at $28 Million

(SANTA ANA) – County volunteers
are priceless and ageless. In 2001, volunteers collectively
logged close to 925,000 service hours valued at $28 million.
Ranging in age from 15 to 93 years-old, the oldest and
youngest honorees are represented among the 40 volunteer
individuals and six groups selected for special recognition
by the Board of Supervisors.

Grayson’ Bird Paintings Exhibit Opens ‘March 25

(SANTA ANA) - An exhibit commemorating
the life and work of foremost late 19th century bird painter,
Andrew Jackson Grayson, opens March 25 at the Old County
Courthouse Museum, 211 W. Santa Ana Boulevard in Santa
Ana. Titled “Audubon of the West,” the exhibit
will continue through May 6.
National Report Card Gives OC High
Marks In Management

Santa Ana - The County of Orange ranked
among the 13 best-managed counties in the nation in a
study released today by Governing Magazine. The “county
report card,” produced by Syracuse University, also
revealed only one county in California with a better rating
than Orange.
(Santa Ana) Employers can register for
free exhibition space at the first Orange County Economic
Recovery Job Fair scheduled for noon to 6 p.m., February
27 at the Anaheim Convention Center located at 800 W.
Katella Avenue. Exhibit spaces should be reserved by January
31.
Santa Ana With Board action on Tuesday
to allow County employees to volunteer during work hours
at polling places on Election Day, Registrar of Voters
Rosalyn Lever is launching an outreach effort to broaden
the pool of available volunteers.

Presents United Way with $826,706 Check

(Santa Ana) --The County of Orange employees
dug deep again this year for the annual United Way campaign,
surpassing their 2001 United Way fundraising goal. The
County's payroll-deduction campaign and fundraising efforts
produced $826,706.
