PUBLIC WORKS TO HOLD OPEN HOUSE MAY 20 AT COUNTY FACILITY

The Event Will be Held to Mark National Public Works Week May 21-27

(ANAHEIM, CA) - The County of Orange Public Works division will host an Open House and Collector Car and Motorcycle Show Saturday, May 20 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at its Katella Yard Facility - 1750 S. Douglass Road in Anaheim near the Arrowhead Pond. The event will include equipment exhibits, displays, games, collector cars and motorcycles, and food. Chairman Bill Campbell, Orange County Board of Supervisors, is expected to be on hand for the celebration in honor of National Public Works Week, May 21-27. For additional event information call (714) 567-6300.

Public Works - a division of the Resources & Development Management Department (RDMD) - is responsible for providing regional flood control for the county, road system construction, and maintenance and management for unincorporated areas. “But our effects are much more far reaching,” said Public Works Director Herb Nakasone.

“We facilitate the county property permits process, administer engineering expertise, and handle such programs as surveying, mapping, maintenance of public buildings and other infrastructure such as drainage and pavement improvements - things that aid in the health, safety, comfort and quality of life of county residents,” Nakasone said.

The division has an annual operating budget of more than $200 million.
