CEO Names New Chief Information Officer

SANTA ANA—County Executive Officer Tom Mauk today appointed Satish Ajmani as Chief Information Officer (CIO) for the County of Orange. The appointment is effective February 21, 2006.

Ajmani has been the Chief Information Officer for the County of Santa Clara since 1998. His responsibilities there included enterprise-wide executive leadership for Information Technology (IT), IT vision and strategy as well as policy advice to the Board, CEO and senior executives. Computerworld magazine honored Ajmani in 2004 as a “Premier 100 IT Leader.”

He had previously been the Director of Management Information Services for the Department of Transportation for the State of Washington. Ajmani has more that 27 years experience in both the public and private sectors. He received his Masters Degree in Engineering from McMaster University in Canada.

“We are fortunate to have a proven professional like Ajmani joining our team,” said Mauk. “He has the right combination of vision, experience and personal traits needed to lead Information Technology for the County.”

Ajmani will head the County’s IT system that has an annual operating budget of approximately $69 million and a staff of 312 employees (72 County employees and 240 contracted employees). The department is an integral partner with County agencies and departments in using technology for greater employee efficiency and enhanced customer service.
