To Discuss Homeless and Housing Tomorrow
(Santa Ana) - Representatives
from non-profit organizations, state agencies, Orange
County cities and County agencies will meet tomorrow to
discuss the county's recent award of $6.8 million from
the Department of Housing and Urban Development through
its Super Notice of Funding Availability (SuperNOFA) for
Continuum of Care Homeless Assistance Programs. The competition
funded 12 of the 13 requests submitted from Orange County.
The requests focus on ways to address the needs of the
county's low-income residents and the homeless who, according
to a recent County survey, total 14,000 on any given night
in Orange County.
Tomorrow's Continuum of Care Community Forum will be from
1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the LA Times meeting room at 1375
Sunflower Ave. in Costa Mesa. Co-sponsors of the meeting
are the County Executive Office, Orange County Homeless
Issues Task Force and the Shelter & Hunger Partnership
of Orange County.
Also on the agenda will be presentations on advocacy;
prevention/outreach and assessment; emergency shelter;
transitional shelter; and permanent affordable housing.
