The Department also
employs Court Services Officers (CSOs) who are
responsible for bailiffing in non-custody and civil
courtrooms. You will also find CSOs staffing weapons
screening stations at the Lamoreaux and Central
Justice Centers, as well as staffing limited jail
positions. CSOs have peace officer authority and
responsibilities while on duty per Penal Code 830.36.
CSOs are given job specific training, but have not
completed the more rigorous training requirements of
a deputy.
