Information Services Division (ISD)
Information Services Division’s primary mission is to maintain the computing environment located at the Orange County Data Center (OCDC), where County of Orange departments and agencies host their most critical and performance intensive applications, applications that serve the citizens of the County. In meeting its responsibilities to its customers, ISD processes and monitors millions of transactions per month. ISD is able to achieve this effort through its Technical Support and Operations teams.

The Technical Support team provides Database Management and Operating Systems services to the County’s departments and agencies.

Database Management: Provides the necessary database infrastructure that is required to support the computing needs of the enterprise. Main responsibilities include data design, standards, performance tuning, availability, backup and recovery, and disaster mitigation planning at the enterprise level.

Operating Systems: Provides the software infrastructure to support the computing needs of the enterprise. This includes all monitoring, scheduling, communications, imaging, application development software, and all other software required to run and support the County’s applications.

The Operations team provides Help Desk, Production Control, and Production Processing services.

Help Desk: Designed to be the central point of contact for IT related problem resolution for County of Orange departments and agencies. The Help Desk offers an enterprise-wide call management solution. An experienced certified staff utilizes a proven methodology on every call from its inception through to its correct and satisfactory resolution. This methodology includes an escalation process with comprehensive logging of information and problem categorizing. Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are used as a means of measuring the Help Desk’s performance.

Production Control: Supports and monitors the processing of jobs through state-of-the-art scheduling products such as BMC’s Control products. The Control-M, -D, and –O products are used to automate job scheduling and output product distribution. The team also assists various agencies in their forms design.

Production Processing: Monitors and manages Orange County’s enterprise mainframe, DASD, and tape systems. The team is also responsible for batch and transaction processing. In support of this effort, over 4,000,000 pages per month are printed and distributed. The team mans a 24 hours per day, 7 days per week operations center.
