Intern Position Description
Intern Position Title: Marketing & Community Relations Internship (unpaid internship)
Agency Description
The Orange County Human Relations Commission and Council provide programs in partnership with schools, corporations, individuals, cities and foundations to foster mutual understanding and respect among residents in order to make Orange County a better place for ALL people to live, work, and do business.

We offer internships for qualified individuals in marketing, fundraising and program support. The positions provide valuable work experience in a supportive and motivating work environment.

Hours: The internship requires a time commitment of at least 10 hours per week for a minimum of 3 months. We do not provide a stipend or salary.
  • Research and write (short) pieces for publication in Building Bridges Newsletter
  • Research story leads and conduct interviews; draft articles for press
  • Help facilitate outreach effort
  • Assist in planning and executing educational efforts for members, donors and community friends including phone calls, mailings, and other related marketing activities.
  • Assist in public relations efforts by working with mainstream and alternative media.
  • Maintain and update media database
  • Carry out other projects, designed in consultation with the intern and staff
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at once, with various deadlines
  • Good research skills
  • Good editing and grammar skills
  • Organized, self-motivated and able to work independently on projects
  • Ability to work with a diverse range of people
  • Familiarity with PC and Macintosh computers, and the World Wide Web
