The State of California administers the Property Tax Postponement Program. If you qualify, the State will pay the property taxes and the deferred property taxes become a lien on the property.
To qualify, a homeowner must meet all of the following criteria:

Be at least 62 years of age, or blind, or disabled; and,
-
Own and occupy the property as his or her principal place of residence; and,
-
Have a total household income of $31,500 or less; and,
-
Have at least 20% equity in the property.
